South from Manila

We island-hopped from the large northern island of Luzon to Mindoro, Tablas, Boracay, Panay, Negros, and Cebu.

Boracay

On the well-known island of Boracay, we snagged a beach hut for three weeks (the island was not as heavily touristed back in 1985). Here’s a composite photo taken on the boat from Tablas to Boracay:

Northern Luzon

We flew from Cebu back to Manila, where we took buses to the stunning terraces around Sagada, Banaue, and Bontoc.

The Banaue Rice Terraces were shaped 2,000 years ago by the Ifugao people, who still live in Ifugao Province in the centre of Northern Luzon. Sagada and Bontoc are in the adjacent Mountain Province.
